Join artist Maddison Collymore at Black Barge beach for some seaweed explorations

Through sustainable processes such as printing, dyeing, and anthotype, Maddison has created a range of experiments documenting the seaweed varieties collected from Portland shores.
Inspired by the underwater landscape of seaweed. Seaweed Explorations is a project facilitating the artist’s broader exploration into concepts of place, belonging, and cohabitation through the study of diverse life forms and their ecosystems.
The project also pays tribute to the Victorian female naturalists who forged the study and documentation of seaweed species, as well as the tradition of pressing and arranging seaweed collages.

Maddison Collymore is this year’s b-side and CODA Platform Bursary artist; a project aiming to support and showcase early career artists.
