The Parade is BACK - Keep Portland Weird and Wonderful!
The Parade is back, and this year it’s a bumper Dusk til’ Dark edition.
Everyone is invited to this celebratory parade through the streets of Portland led by YOU, our festival artists and b-side volunteers.
We want as many community members as possible to get involved, so tell your friends, your family, your sports team and your knitting club.
This year’s parade is a partnership production with Portland artist Sophie Fretwell and has a Japanese twist this year. Sophie’s project ‘Islands of Imagination: Portland & Japan’ explores the folklore and traditions of island communities (including bunnies!). In Japanese folklore, Yokai are mysterious shape-shifting spirits, monsters and sprites. But what would a Portland Yokai look like?
Join us on September 8th from dusk till dark as we bring these mystical beings to life at the Portland Parade!
Expect the unexpected and see what strange creatures you’ll encounter…so dress up in your weirdest, we can’t wait to see your outfits this year!
