Beautiful Persian inspired artworks amongst the glorious Chiswell Community Gardens.
Mohammad Barrangi is a multidisciplinary artist born in Rasht, Iran and based in Leeds, UK. His work centres on his own experiences of travel, migration, and disability. He blends traditional calligraphy with experimental mark-making techniques, elements of Persian calligraphy, historic European scientific illustration and storytelling. Mohammad has created 3 artworks for this year’s festival at the tranquil Chiswell Community Garden and Quiddles café, close to the sea.
Mohammad’s work explores themes from Persian myths, island iconography, and femininity. Look for your own connection in this beautiful dream-like work. Look closer, and you’ll find motifs that explore home, what it is to be an island, migration and disability.
