1st September 2025
Inspired by The Red Dress, we will be creating our own dress to celebrate heritage, migration and identity
The Red Dress came to Portland in September 2024, hopefully you got a glimpse of it?
It’s an incredible 14 yr old project that has developed as a textile narrative of community voices, internationally, over that time.
B-side have been gifted a calico ‘sister’ dress by The Red Dress project, which will be embellished with Portland stories and by people linked to the Island.
There will be workshops taking place between January and July where people will come together to add their story, or voice, in textiles, and these pieces will then be added to The Portland Dress which will be exhbited at the next b-side festival in Sept 2025.
We have two brilliant Portland based artists who will be leading these workshops, Antje Rook and Sarah Whiteside, Both have their own uninque textile practises and both have a passion for sharing their skills. Take a look at their bios below.
Check out What’s On for upcoming workshops and how you can take part.
