Meet the artist - come and find out more about Christopher's research using Portland Museum's digital archive.
Working mainly in sculpture and installation, Christopher has been working creatively with Portland Museum on their National Lottery funded project to record finds from the shipwreck of the East India Company vessel, the Earl of Abergavenny, which sank in Weymouth Bay in 1805. His research into the circumstances of the shipwreck have involved delving into the existing digital archives, whilst also learning about the processes being undertaken to record the many fascinating finds.
He hopes to expand his artistic practice through this project by exploring different methods of community engagement and taking the fantastic opportunity to be up close to genuine artefacts of social importance.
Drop in and see some works in progress, Christopher will be on hand to discuss his ideas and plans.
Christopher Lee is the b-side and Portland Museum Platform bursary artist for 2022.
