Drop in at The Portland Bird Observatory bookshop to meet artist in residence Emily Tracy and explore the world of searching, observing, collecting and recording.
Emily has been commissioned as part of the This Land project to make work in response to the landscape of Portland – working specifically with the landscape around Portland Bill.
Emily uses artist books, objects, archives and community led research to explore place through a multilayered approach, human impact, community history, geology, nature, climate change and the interwoven impact all these facets have on shaping a landscape.
Over the coming months Emily will be gathering data to create a new artwork for Portland inspired by the insects and birds that favour this part of the island. Stop by for a chat and to see examples of her work or get involved in creating an artwork yourself.
Unfortunately, there is no parking available at PBO please park at the Bill and take the footpath sign posted from The Pulpit Inn.
