Come and help build the b-side Ball Run Palace. 

You’re invited to join a giant game of construction and playful racing as the installation 

grows throughout the festival into a colourful, wonderfully wonky ball run inspired by Portland’s historic fair and quarry landscape. 

Part artwork, part playground, the evolving installation invites visitors to build, decorate and play. Drop a ball at the top and follow its journey downhill, then help create the next section using colour, texture and your own imagination. The original idea for this project was developed in collaboration with neurodiverse child artist Belle Leroux. 

Made from everyday materials and shaped by the contours of the site, Ball Run Palace celebrates collective creativity, joyful experimentation and Portland’s remarkable history of moving stone from quarry to harbour.
