Hugh Dunford Wood trained at Oxford’s Ruskin School of Art in direct succession from Walter Sickert, Degas and Ingres. He has spent all his working life as an artist-designer. He paints portraits and landscapes, makes prints, and designs for personal wear and homeware. In the last few years, he has experimented with film.
He was Artist in Residence with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and later at London’s Globe Theatre, and with the Museum of Bermuda Art for the island’s 400th anniversary of their first settlement in 2009. His work is in the collections of The Victoria & Albert Museum & the British Council, and he received a large medal from Prince Charles!
This is Us is his tribute to the people of Portland, made in collaboration with Stephen Clarke of biggerhouse films.
Hugh has historic family links in Dorset and has lived here for many years.
