‘The Night About Us’ can be best described as a 30 minute trip into the dark heart of the witching hour with the promise of safe return for morning, work and all the other dreadful things we are obliged to do in the awful daytime. Scored by the artists themselves in the guise of The Adding Machine, the film attains to be a tonal poem. A rumination on the small hours of big dreams, best intentions and inevitable axe-grinding.
Presented as an eldritch big sister to its sunny predecessor ‘The Portland Lookalike Agency’ it still contains the same balance of affection and bewilderment which somehow seems only natural when dealing with ol’ evil island home.
