Join b-side research & development artist Simon Lee Dicker and friends for a guided walk.
Explore the quarries and paths of Portland in search of marbled white butterflies and traces of St Paul’s Cathedral.
As part of his research Simon is testing the feasibility of producing a full-scale augmented reality (AR) version of St Paul’s Cathedral, digitally relocated into a Portland quarry. This dislocated monument will operate as an anti-monumental gesture: unstable, temporary, and encountered only through mediation. In AR, the Cathedral becomes something that can be walked through, glitched, or refused, stripped of authority and placed within a landscape marked by absence, extraction, and ecological recovery.
It proposes That Other Place as a speculative space where dominant histories are unsettled and reimagined.
