This site-responsive installation uses the story of Chiswell Walled Garden as a starting point to explore the behaviors and rituals that exist in the domestic space.
Starting as an attempt to patch up, repair, protect or reinstate the garden as the home it once was a collection of domestic objects and garden tools has been carefully wrapped in wallpaper. The absurdity of the process poses some questions, however: are these objects being revealed or obscured; hidden or highlighted? What is the function of an object now made decorative through its covering up? Does this activity mimic some domestic ritual that seeks to tell a superficial story?
