As darkness falls, giant animated figures emerge across Portland in a magical trail of outdoor projections.
Drawn from Jane Fox’s Encyclopedia Project and brought to life by animator Nina Cooper (Beyond Local), these strange and wondrous beings walk, dance, parade and journey towards an imagined fair, inviting visitors into a world where the boundaries between human, animal, nature and myth begin to dissolve.
Appearing life-size and larger on walls across the Island, the projections create fleeting encounters with curious spirits, pilgrims and fantastical creatures. Part procession, part dreamscape, they act as guides to a parallel Portland—a place where all living things coexist as equals and where wonder waits around every corner.
There are 4 projections to discover along Chiswell and Clements Lane. Look out for pools of light and signage.
