Carnivorous is a sculptural installation made from steel, manipulated into sweeping curves and sharp spikes that extend into the surrounding space.
Inspired by carnivorous plants, the work enlarges their intricate forms, placing the viewer in the position of the fly rather than the observer.
Drawing on the distinctive forms of Venus flytraps, pitcher plants and sundews, the sculpture deconstructs these extraordinary species before reassembling them into an evolved mechanical organism. Organic curves sit alongside rigid angular forms, reflecting the dual nature of these remarkable plants.
