Tea, coffee and inspirational tales of hope
You are invited to Cafe Ope!
Join us for tea, coffee, delicious cakes, and inspiring stories that will warm your heart and lift your spirits. In celebration of Refugee Week, this month’s speaker is Maryna Dovbysh. Maryna left Ukraine with her children due to the ongoing war. Previously, she worked in the media, writing about human rights, parenting, feminism, and culture.
She founded a Ukrainian community group in Weymouth, TheWeyUa, which programmes charity and cultural events, commemorations, and film screenings. Her work in the UK also includes roles as a military translator and Community Refugee Project Officer.
“I am going to share my experience, positive things – the importance of a welcoming community and the challanges of being a refugee – living in uncertainty and cross-cultural integration, pressure and expectations placed on women, balance between helping soldiers and living life, lack of old friends and family around and how this can affect mental health”
Everyone is welcome to attend, and it’s FREE!
Join us every second Tuesday of the month.
