Dorset Moon makes the Dorset Tourism Award Finals

We are thrilled to announce that Dorset Moon is a Dorset Tourism Awards Finalist!

Over three weekends more than 41,000 people enjoyed Luke Jerram’s monumental Museum of the Moon installation in three stunning locations – St Peter’s Church, Bournemouth; Sherborne Abbey and the Nothe Fort at Weymouth.

In a unique collaboration between three Dorset arts festivals – b-side, Inside Out Dorset (produced by Activate) and Bournemouth Arts by the Sea – each incarnation of Dorset Moon also featured a full supporting programme of free cultural activities and many new commissions by artists R&D Studio, Carrie Mason, George Roberts, Matilda Skelton and Ra Zamora.

Awards organizer Robin Barker of Services for Tourism said:

“The past 10 months have been a challenge for everyone – to survive let alone prosper.  Having considered abandoning the Awards I’m so glad we persevered, adapting and changing along the way. The delight we’re witnessing amongst finalists on being told of their success makes it all so worthwhile!”

Dorset Moon was commissioned by the Arts Development Company with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and Arts Council England.

We are so proud to be recognised for the positive impact creativity and work by artists has on the community, people’s well being, tourism and business especially at this very challenging time for the arts due to COVID.
