Matt and Rob Vale have been commissioned to create a spectacular three part video projection event, celebrating the passage of time and our place within it.
Act II – Passing Time takes place at Nothe Fort, as a unique one off event. Completely filling the imposing inner archways of Nothe Fort, ship's bells and searchlights draw viewers into the site to experience a vast panoramic video artwork transforming this dramatic site.
Split into 30 second bursts of time, waves, clocks, timers and shorelines are weaved together by an inquisitive dancing figure, and hundreds of sandcastles built by participants are eroded by the ever changing tideline, like miniature versions of the fort itself. Over 30 minutes the fleeting, constantly changing nature of time provides a magical experience for viewers, and an experience not to be forgotten.
Over the course of three Acts, the diverse backdrops of Lydiard House, Swindon, Nothe Fort, Weymouth and the Rock Walk, Torquay are brought to life through a new light and sound art commission.
Featuring specially composed video and sound artists Matt and Rob Vale are working with participants from Swindon, Dorset and Torbay to create huge artworks that transform and animate the facades of each venue. From stately home to military fort to geopark, each act of the piece brings participants and viewers together, celebrating their relationship with the locality, its past, present and future.
Each act of the artwork takes place at a different time and location, and is a unique visual event created specifically for the space.
Please note: This is a standing event. In the event of rain the performance will still go ahead – but no umbrellas are allowed during the performance. Waterproof capes will be available to buy on the day.
Please bring a small torch – it will be dark!
