Light Space Color was founded by multimedia artists Peter Hudson and Dawn Parsonage, who specialise in experimental and interactive public participation artworks.
They work in a range of media, from immersive installations, photography to sculpture, often inviting the public to play with light, shadow and colour.
Dawn’s family was originally from Portland with her Grandad coming from the isle. She specialises in photography and has built her own archive of over 20,000 found photographs and images over 30 years which feed into their work. Archive is often at the heart of her work, linking communities to their histories and bringing them alive.
Peter focuses on interactivity and an intense fascination with our relationship to and perception of colour and light. He builds and creates light based artworks and has a passion for art being for all no matter your ability.
Dawn is the artist behind Boring People – portraits of people as they fall into a state of boredom. And Peter is known for ‘In Color’ – exhibited at Fabrica, Brighton and the Tate St Ives. The public were invited to interact with a ball or microphone which then in turn changed the colour and brightness of the thick coloured light filling the space.
They work together to create unique, unexpected and joyful artworks.
They have been exhibited at the Tate St Ives, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art – Copenhagen, Wellcome Trust, Migration Museum, Signal Film and Media – Barrow-in-Furness, Vögele Cultural Centre – Switzerland as well as many others.
