DESCRIPTION:\nAwind phone is an unconnected telephone in a quiet  outdoor space, that allows people to symbolically ” speak” to lost loved ones and helps them with processing  their grief.\n\n\nThe concept was originally created in Japan in 2010 by Itaru Sasaki to grieve his cousin, but it gained global traction after the 2011 tsunami. The movement has since expanded worldwide to aid in the grieving and bereavement process.\nA wind phone was installed in 2024 in a red telephone box on Mallams, Portland.
