Christmas at b-side

PRESS RELEASE

ENJOY A B-SIDE CHRISTMAS ON PORTLAND

Outpost, 77 Fortuneswell, Portland DT5 1LY

It’s busy week of festive events at b-side festival’s project space - outpost - on Portland. Producer Sandy Kirkby said,

“ There is something for everyone this week,  we have planned some great events that showcase Dorset’s wonderful artistic talents. Lots of young people from Weymouth & Portland will be entertaining us with their Xmas Variety show and on Saturday you can enjoy a grotto with a difference as we welcome back Festival favourite Alistair Gentry in the guise of Colonel Robin!

Plus some fantastic affordable art to buy in the nick of time for Christmas. We hope lots of people will pop in and if we have any sherry left we can toast Christmas altogether too!”

 Xmas Variety Show Friday December 16th 7 – 8.30pm

The b-side Young Producer group are hosting a ‘variety show’ style performance event at The Royal Manor Theatre, Portland. There will be singing, there will be dancing and magic! Come along, support the local talent and celebrate the festive season.

Whilst you peruse the delectable arty delights of Paper Jam why not have a word with our resident festival presence Colonel Robins?

Colonel Robin is bringing his mask, bells, lights and medals to Outpost to share some alternative end of year traditions you may like to adopt. Why not donate a gripe, a grudge, a regret, a sadness or a silliness from the past year and Colonel Robin can definitively (and confidentially) exorcise them along with anything else you didn’t like about 2016.

If you enjoyed Alistair Gentry's Portland Office for Imaginary History  at the festival you will love this.

Christmas Crafts Family Workshop Sunday December 18th 11 – 4pm

And to round off a very busy week pop in make some unique Xmas decorations to adorn your tree  and handmade presents from recycled materials. All materials are provided, just pop in for as long as you want and get cracking.

  • The festival included live music, performance, sculpture, film and all sorts of unusual events creating temporary experiences and accidental encounters, big events to celebrate and quiet moments to reflect.
